Itās Springtime! My favorite time of year! Cool, dewy mornings and sunny, breezy afternoons! The sunset gets later and later, and the birds and bugs are loud and proud!
This month, like every month, Iām thinking about cars, but Iām also thinking about springtime wildlife. So I have to ask, have you ever thought about how many cars are named for bugs, birds, and other animals? Hereās a few that I just rattled off about ten from the top of my headā¦

When I think about it, naming a car or truck for an animal can do a lot for the driver and the brand, especially if the carās namesake is an animal known for strength or speed. Rams and broncos, impalas and mustangs just sound like theyāre made for dominating the road. Theyāre animals with muscles and fierce faces that look tough and ready for anything, which makes the driver feel tough and ready for anything, too! Animal and insect names can also create familiarity, trust and comfort. Take the ābeetleā for example. Is it a sexy bug? No. Are hard-shelled beetles with their beady little eyes and tiny legs fierce or particularly imposing? No. But you do have to admit that āVolkswagen Beetleā sounds like a car that would be solid and sturdy while also being friendly and fun.Ā

Obviously, car names for creatures can do a lot for visibility and recognition, but there are surely some that wouldnāt be a good fit at all. Would you want to drive a Ford Turtle or Toyota Slug? How about a Chevy Gnat or Dodge Worm? Probably not.
Anyway, I know there are a lot of auto experts and bonafide car lovers subscribed to this newsletter, so Iād love to hear what animal or bug car names come to mind for you!
