So Fresh, So Clean

May 18, 2026

Look, we’re friends, right? Well, I want to tell you about something that I heard and because I care about you, I want to help.

See, I don’t know if you noticed, but when you pull up to get gas, the trashcans near the pump have been secretly judging you. Yeah, I know. Who are they to give the side-eye to anyone? They literally hold garbage for a living. It could be argued that they’re actually really important in the grand scheme of things, so maybe they do hold a little social weight. I mean, they also mentioned that there’s a link between fuel efficiency and oil changes–something I know you can appreciate given these gas prices–so it seems like they’re coming from a good place generally. Anyway, the point is they see you pull up for a fill up and have
 thoughts.

‍

Word on the street is that they watch you hop out of your car then they peer inside your ride and they see it all.

‍

They see the empty water bottle and balled up chip bag. They peep the dried out pen and old receipts. They even clock the nearly empty energy drink can that you spit your stale gum into earlier that day. The gas station trashcans shake their head and whisper to one another after you’ve tapped your card and filled up your tank. Even some of the full ones with bees buzzing in and out of them have the nerve to talk a little mess about you bypassing the opportunity to throw away the trash in your car.

Now, I want to be clear. I’m on your side. I know you’re busy and stopping for gas is in itself its own sort of inconvenience. I know that you’re well intended and even have a monthly membership at that one car wash place with the high-powered vacuums. I’m just telling you what someone told me. I’m usually not a gossip by any means but I can’t have trashcans out here throwing dirt (no pun intended) on your good name.

‍It’s springtime, a perfect time to make more use of the gas station trashcans, the most ideal time to clean your car out for summer, and an excellent idea for when you take your truck to Ice Cold Air for an oil change (see also: savings at the pump!). Get those cupholders cleared out and those floor mats sparkling then step out of that cleaned out car to those bins who’s boss!
