New Year, New Me

I know, I know. This is a little late for a New Year’s greeting, but bear with me. I’ve been going through a lot of transition. Most of you know about the big changes–new leadership, new initiatives, new staff, new platforms and tools. Some of those changes might seem like old news in some respects, but for me, your trusted, loyal newsletter? I’m still kinda reeling. Why? Well, it’s a little difficult for me to say…it’s um, a little, um, embarrassing to admit. I’ve never even said it aloud. But I guess in the spirit of the new year, I’ll just come right out with it. I’ll just say it. I’ll tell you what the trouble is. I’ll admit it. I mean, it’s… it’s… it’s…

It’s me. I’ve been doing the things I thought I was supposed to be doing–educating you on car care stuff, sharing links to resources for you to learn more about your car or about car parts or about car repairs and… and… well, y’all aren’t really engaging with me. Like, I’m talking single-digit open rate and no clicks. Zero. Clicks. No engagement. No comments. No nothing. And well, I’m feeling like something’s got to change.

So that brings me to the title of this entry: New Year, New Me.

We’ve heard that before right? New Year, New Me, and folks rush out to get gym memberships and throw out all their junk food. Or they put timers on their phones and delete apps with grand designs to cut back on screentime. New Year, New Me is a rallying cry for folks who want to make a change. Statistics show, however, that most of those enthusiastic pledges to do and be different don’t stick long enough to take hold. By the end of February, your gym card ain’t been swiped, you’re back buying 2 for $6 family size bags of chips for yourself, and rage-crying-manically-laughing at Reels and Tiktoks until 2 a.m. I’m not judging. I’m just saying.

But see that’s what I’m going to do different this time around. I’m going to just say. I’m going to make the joke. I’m going to poke fun. I’m going to say the thing I’ve been too nervous to say. I’m going to let loose and invite more voices to talk about what matters in the world of cars and repairs and life.

Did you know that I could be funny? Did you know I could be charming and cool? Corny and cheeky? Did you know that there’s a whole world of cars, car parts, and industry voices that have something to say?

I bet you didn’t. But now you do.
